Excited for Honduras!
I can tell you that plans have started for me to go and do mission in Honduras with Zion's Gate Ministries! I skyped with the founder of Zion's Gate the other week a couple of times and I decided that I really wanted to work with them in August this year.
Zion's Gate is a relatively young ministry, founded by Tony Deien and his wife Nidia. The ministry originally focused on street kids and teenagers who live in Los Pinos, a dangerous, very poor area of Tegucigalpa. (the capital of Honduras) The ministry aimed to reach out to these kids, meeting both physical and spiritual needs, and showing them a way out of their current situations. Recently, God has shifted the ministry and called them to serve a group of kids who have chosen to leave their former lives, addictions and ways of life to live with them at Zion's Gate. They give them a chance of an education, a community of faith to live and grow in, intentional discipleship, and the opportunity for them to engage in ministry in their community and country. The future of Zion's Gate is to raise these men and women up as Godly leaders in whatever direction of life they choose to pursue.
The dates, finances and other details are not finalised yet but I would really appreciate your prayers as I go through the processes of preparing for mission. I will keep you updated as things progress!
